XUPi is an acronym for Xilinxi University Platform. The Xilinxi XUPi development board is a medium density device targeted for educational use. The centerpiece of these devices is the Xilinxi Virtex-II Pro XC2VP30 FPGAi which features 30,816 logic cells, 136 18-bit multipliers, 2,448Kb of BRAMi, and two PowerPC 405 processors
In addition to the FPGAi, the development board contains many integrated peripherals such as a DDR DIMM, a 10/100 ethernet port, a compact flash slot, a XSGA VGA port, an audio codec, a serial port, and other devices. Due to their versatility, these boards can be deployed across a curriculum from use in simple systems courses to fully fledged embedded systems design and research
