Progress Reports

Progress reports will be completed regularly by the groups participating in this course. These reports are graded by your TA to help ensure that each group is on track to complete the project by the end of the semester. Additionally, the information compiled in these progress reports will be invaluable to the completion of the final report for the course.

Generally speaking, each progress report will consist of three basic sections:

Major tasks completed
List all of the tasks completed by the group since the last progress report. For each completed task, discuss the details of the task, how the task was completed, and any problems encountered during the completion of the task. Also be sure to clearly indicate each individuals contribution to the completion of the task.

Schedule and task list
A full schedule and task list for the semester must be included in each report. Both the schedule and the task list should indicate what has been completed and what remains to be completed. Be sure to clearly indicate what has changed in the schedule and the task list since the previous report.

Major design revisions
Discuss any major design changes that have been made to your project and provide a motivation for making the change. If no design revisions have been made then this section should still be included but with a simple statement that no changes have been made.
Progress Report Due Dates

Progress reports are due in this course roughly every two weeks. The exact schedule is given below:

1st Progress Report: March 4, 2011
2nd Progress Report: March 18, 2011
3rd Progress Report: April 1, 2011
4th Progress Report: April 15, 2011
5th Progress Report: April 29, 2011
One progress report per group should be emailed to the TA by midnight on the given due date. For the first progress report (due 2/14/2011), include a summary of what was accomplished in the previous semester and over winter break. Progress reports should be submitted to the TA in either Microsoft Word DOC format or in PDF format. A template for the progress report can be found here.
